What makes DeMolay different from other organizations for young men?
DeMolay is different from other organizations in several ways. First, it's open to all kinds of guys with all kinds of interests. If a chapter decides they want to, they can devote their chapter's entire attention to basketball. If they want to focus on soccer, chess, video games, drama, mountain cilmbing, volunteering, or stamp collecting, that's O.K. too. Each chapter has its own personality and each member has a chance to make the chapter what he wants it to be. Rather than focusing on any one thing, most chapters do a variety of activities. DeMolay is infinitely adaptable to the interests of the chapter members!

Another difference is DeMolay's emphasis on training you to be a leader. It doesn't happen by accident. When you join DeMolay, you're on the fast track to learn skills that will help you in school and through the rest of life.

A Message from the Executive Officer

Great Plains Leadership Camp: This was a great opportunity for you and your members to get leadership skills and learn more about how to run a DeMolay Chapter. For the 12 boys and several adults from Kansas who attended last year, it was an awesome experience. I have set aside some money for the State to pay for up to 4 boys per Chapter to attend the Camp. These boys should be ones that are excited about DeMolay and wish to know more. They will be able to interact with DeMolays from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and more. If you have more that 4 boys interested in going, donot let that stop you. I have some additional Scholarships that I can hand out on a case-by-case basis.

I also encourage any advisors that are interested in attending to go as well. They will also learn a lot. I also have money available to help defray some or all of their costs as well.

The Camp is from Sunday, July 26 to Saturday, August 1 at Emporia State University. Normal registration is $199 for the week, which includes room, lodging and meals.

FYI: It is not required that you send an advisor with your boys for the week. We may even be able to handle transportation on a limited basis, so don't let that stop you from sending your members to this Camp.

I need to have a list from each Chapter Advisor of who you plan on sending to the Camp by mid June. You can get the registration forms and more information about the camp at www.greatplainsDLC.com. It's a great opportunity, don't pass it up.
